Dr Bill Jackson is an independent environmental consultant. He has extensive policy and field experience in nature conservation and natural resource management at global level and in Asia, Australia, the Pacific and Africa. He was the Chief Executive of Parks Victoria from 2010 to 2015. Parks Victoria is the park management agency responsible for a diverse estate of public land and waterways, totalling 4.1 million hectares (20% of Victoria).  He has held senior positions with the International Union for Conservation of Nature, including Deputy Director General, Director, Global Programme, and Head of Forest Conservation. Dr Jackson has a keen interest in the links between human health and nature and in promoting the role of civil society in managing and conserving natural capital. Dr Jackson is a Director of the social enterprise Healthy Parks Healthy People, Chair of the Thin Green Line Foundation and an adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
