About:
Professor John Bertram is a Research Group Leader in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute and the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at Monash University.  He was the Chairman of the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at Monash from 1998 to 2016. Prior to joining Monash, John was a member of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Melbourne for 12 years.  John's research focuses on the genetic and environmental regulation of kidney development, and the consequences of suboptimal kidney development for adult health.  John is a former President of the International Society for Stereology (ISS) and in 1999 hosted the ISS Congress in Melbourne. He is Co-Chair of the 11th World Congress on the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, which will be held in Melbourne in October 2019.
