Associate Professor Bronwyn Levvey

About:
Associate Professor Levvey has over 38 years of clinical nursing experience; 10 years in acute cardiothoracic and ICU nursing and 24 years in cardiothoracic transplantation nursing and clinical research. Over the past 18 years, Bronwyn has developed a reputation as Australia’s most experienced and academically proficient nursing expert in lung transplantation, and is regularly invited to present at local, national and international scientific, educational and community forums. 

Since 2003 she has made a significant contribution, both in Australia and internationally, to research, protocol development and clinical translation in the utilisation of Donation after Cardio-circulatory Death (DCD) organ donors in lung transplantation, and to date has authored or co-authored more than 120 peer review scientific publications.

She is a council member of the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and the incoming treasurer for this society; a board member of Lungitude Foundation; the current VIC/Tas Transplant Nurses’ Association (TNA) branch secretary; the chair of the Lung/ Heart sub-committee of the Victorian/Tasmanian Transplantation Committee(VTTC); and a 20 year member of the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation (ISHLT)- holding various positions including being a past board director, past associate director on the ISHLT registry committee, and is a current program session chair for the 2020 ISHLT meeting.
