About:
Professor Arthur Christopoulos is a Professor of Pharmacology at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University, and a Senior Principal Research Fellow of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia. He is a world leader in the study of “G protein-coupled receptors”, the largest class of drug targets encoded by the human genome. In particular, he has identified novel means for targeting these receptors with small molecules that offer the potential for safer and more effective medicines. His research crosses industry and academic boundaries, and incorporates molecular pharmacology, computational and mathematical modeling, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, cellular biochemistry and signal transduction, and models of behavior.
